Imaging the Disk around TW Hya with the Submillimeter Array
We present ∼2-4 aperture synthesis observations of the circumstellar disk surrounding the nearby young star TW Hya in the CO J=2–1 and J=3–2 lines and associated dust continuum obtained with the partially completed Submillimeter Array. The extent and peak flux of the 230 and 345 GHz dust emission follow closely the predictions of the irradiated accretion disk model of Calvet et al. (2002). The ...
متن کاملSpatially Resolving the Inner Disk of TW Hya
We present Keck Interferometer observations of TW Hya that spatially resolve its emission at 2 µm wavelength. Analyzing these data together with existing K-band veiling and near-infrared photometric measurements, we conclude that the inner disk consists of optically thin, sub-micron-sized dust extending from ∼ 4 AU to within 0.06 AU of the central star. The inner disk edge may be magnetospheric...
متن کاملEvidence for a Snow Line beyond the Transitional Radius in the Tw Hya Protoplanetary Disk
We present an observational reconstruction of the radial water vapor content near the surface of the TW Hya transitional protoplanetary disk, and report the first localization of the snow line during this phase of disk evolution. The observations are comprised of Spitzer -IRS, Herschel -PACS, and Herschel -HIFI archival spectra. The abundance structure is retrieved by fitting a two-dimensional ...
متن کاملMillimeter Observations of the Tw Hya System
We present millimeter wavelength aperture synthesis observations of TW Hya obtained with the Very Large Array and the BIMA array. Images at 7 mm resolve the dusty circumstellar disk surrounding the star, probing structure to size scales of 0: 00 1 (5 AU). We describe how the long wavelength spectrum and resolved millimeter images constrain the radial distribution of disk surface density.
متن کاملTowards Planetesimals in the Disk around TW Hya : λ = 3 . 5 centimeter Dust Emission
We present Very Large Array observations at λ = 3.5 cm of the nearby young star TW Hya that show the emission is constant in time over weeks, months and years, and spatially resolved with peak brightness temperature ∼ 10 K at ∼ 0. ′′ 25 (15 AU) resolution. These features are naturally explained if the emission mechanism at this wavelength is thermal emission from dust particles in the disk surr...
